In Amsterdam, Is it safe for a gay male couple to french-kiss each other on the street? I mean, is Amsterdam a gay-friendly place so as to allow male gay couples kissing each other without being gay-bashed ? Will Amsterdam people frown upon the gay couple? |
| Amsterdam is probably the most liberal place on the entire planet. If you can't do it there, you can't do it anywhere... |
What's a good gay club/bar to go to in Amsterdam? I've been living in Utrecht for a little over a month and my friend is coming to visit from Sweden, he is gay and I'm a lesbian and we want to check out the gay nightlife in Amsterdam. What's a good place to go? Are all the clubs/bars very close to one another in the gay district? And are there many that are mixed with guys and girls? |
Check this site:
www.patroc.com/amsterdam/bars.htm…
Most of the bars listed there are in the center of town, not too far from another (couple of minutes walking or by tram). |
Is it true that there is a gay zoo in amsterdam? I have been told that all the animals in it have a penchant for having gay sex with each other!
If I had heard it was anywhere else I wouldn't believe it, but Amsterdam, maybe..... |
| Nope. No gay zoo, not even in Amsterdam. I live there, so trust me, it's not true. |
Gay pride in amsterdam, can straight people still enjoy it? had no idea when i booked it but happen to be going amsterdam on the exact days of gay pride, so much for relaxing in cafes as i know it will be packed, but will we be ok and still have fun in the celebrations? and are loads of straight people there too? i have no problem with gays but would like to meet some straight guys ect.. and not be rejected from the 'party'
thanks |
| It's really cool that you're open to going to pride though you're straight! I would say just let loose and enjoy yourself at Pride anyways-I find a lot of camaraderie in the LGBT community because they're just really open-minded and down to accept anyone who is accepting-regardless of sexuality. You might not be able to find many single straight (as in not closeted or at least bi) guys out and about (and if you do, that he's confident and open-minded and cool enough to be there is reason enough to marry him) but life's more than just hooking up and relationships, right? You're bound to have fun, meet great and interesting people, and maybe even learn a thing or two you wouldn't elsewhere. It'll definitely be a story to tell when you get back home. |
Where do black gay men hang out in Amsterdam? I am going to Amsterdam soon and wonder where black gay men agges 30's to 40's hang out. |
Very hard to answer this question..
But I'll advice you to seek for free on these links below, where you can find Gay ads from all over the world.
When you get there, choose Amsterdam in the area section.
Good luck. |
What does 'gay friendly' mean when applied to a hotel in Amsterdam? The hotel I am about to book is advertised as gay friendly, what does that mean or am I just be stupid? |
It means the management and staff does not look surprised of to men sleep together and show affection in public.
So there will be more gays and more open than in other hotels.
But it is okay for heteros too. |

Gay in Amsterdam, what to see? Hey guys. I am finally in Amsterdam, and I would like to know if you could recommend any historical buildings, museums, theaters etc that have some homosexual references, like to ww2, in Amsterdam?
As well as some places? Now I know that Amsterdam is open-minded city and all that, but does anyone of you know any specific areas for like bars, coffeeshops, shops etc?
Thaaank you |
I haven't been there myself, but this site looks like a really thorough tour guide to districts and businesses. It should find you anything you want, along with etiquette tips!

Amsterdam Gay Pride Parade? I'm going to be in Amsterdam while the parade is being held. Just wondering if its very crowded with people watching or not and if I should go myself just for fun to watch the parade? Anyone ever been to it and is it mostly tourists that go to watch or a lot of Nederlanders too? |
The Gay Pride Parade is actually a lot of fun to watch regardless of what sexuality, gender or nationality you are. So yes, both tourists and locals come along to watch
Some of the boats that pass by are impressive (time/effort etc talen), others are just full of amazing people, and some.... well just downright amusing to be honest! All to be taken with a pinch of salt and it really is a lot of fun to see
Whether it is packed or not - well it does depend a lot on the weather to be honest, but normally it's busy, but you can always find a spot to either sit and watch on the side, or from one of the bridges |
